Ice Ice Baby

For a short I am currently working on, I have been spending too much of my spare time investigating how to make Ice ‘Look nice’ and fit the theme of Evolution.

Ice for tea anyone?

In this behind the scenes shoot, I have rigged up a simple set consisting of 1 L.E.D. video light and camera, intervalometer (to take snaps at whatever interval I choose), a cooker (to provide a small amount of heat), a black metal tray filled with a tiny bit of water (for a reflective surface) and of course the ice.

Taken with a Canon 70-200 f4 IS

Surprisingly, my theory of the ice melting downwards worked, however being a little lop sided. If I play the video clip in reverse it does appear as if the ice is gradually seeping out of the water. The only problem is, the sequence I shot only lasts 15 or so seconds; which is wayyy too short.

I shall have to rethink the idea of heating the base or adjust how many pics I take.
